...and city design: Three roundtables on data-inspired urbanism

Updated: Apr 5

By Adam Beck | Program Lead, Future of Place

What are the potential impacts and opportunities of some of our key rapidly emerging innovations in our cities, and therefore city design?

E-mobility and city design. Artificial intelligence and city design. 5G and city design.

These are but some of key technology and data innovations that are shaping place and the prosperity of our people, and planet.

Are we seeing the rise of a new urbanism - a data-inspired urbanism?

Pull up a seat, let's discuss...

E-MOBILITY + CITY DESIGN

20 April | 11:00am-12:00pm AEST

E-bikes, e-scooters, e-skateboards and other emerging e-mobility travel options are now at the heart of some Transportation Plan upgrades for government. Shared public and privately owned e-mobility vehicles that are exploding in numbers.

Just when we thought the public realm could not be more loved than it already is!

AI + CITY DESIGN

18 May | 11:00am-12:00pm AEST

Artificial Intelligence enables technology to sense its environment, learn from datasets and perform predictive analysis to make autonomous decisions which can influence digital and real environments. This potentially creates relationships between people, place, technology and data that we have not fully considered.

5G + CITY DESIGN

15 June | 11:00am-12:00pm AEST

It has the promise of transforming existing industries, and creating entirely new ones. Its not just about speed, but rather its superpower in unlocking value. But with this new generation of network, you just don't flick a switch over night and we go from 4G to 5G.

This is an entirely new urban infrastructure set, requiring new rules.
